Julie made an avatar too! I love her avatar for so many reasons, but my favorite is the fact that the avatar has no shoes. I met Julie in college and all during freshman year she pretty much went shoeless. I guess it was in her Alabama blood. :-)
Julie was my roomie in college for...gasp all four years. There were only a few people I knew in college who were roommates for four years and still ended up being very close friends. I think it's pretty rare to find someone who you can not only get along with very well, but also live with. She left Chapel Hill when I started grad school, and I have seen her a few times since then. We've missed many moments in each others lives, but it doesn't seem to matter because when we see each other, we catch up and everything falls into place .

oh, jewel. i'm tearing up right now. i feel so honored to have made it onto your blog! does that mean i'm famous now?!
but really, i couldn't have put it better myself. despite whatever distance and time, you will always be my jew-elllll. :) don't forget that we raised a son together! a happy, homosexual (not that there's anything wrong with that!), plump son. and at the rate i'm going, you will be my only successful live-in relationship!
