For most of the past week I have been administering state exams to my students. I thought it would be the pre-beginning to my relaxing summer vacation, but I was so wrong. It is stressful because everything has to counted and done in a very particular way, and the whole time you're worrying about your students doing well and passing. It is also boring and completely mind numbing. 3+ hours of standing in front of a classroom not talking and watching students not talking is surprisingly exhausting. I tried to silently keep my mind occupied by thinking of riddles and making up limericks in my head, but it only lasted about 10 mins before my brain turned to mush. Sadly, It gave me a headaches everyday this week and all I wanted to do when I got home was lie down. That's why I have not posted at all this week. I will be finished by next Wednesday, so hopefully my brain will solidify and produce semi-interesting thoughts to share.
I'll leave you with a new discovery: Abbey Road Tavern and Grill in Cary NC. Neat place that has 60's and 70's ephemera all over the walls with yummy food including many veggie burgers options. You should check it out if you are ever in the area.
