Salt and Pepper Shaker Mystery

While Ike and I were in Cary last weekend, my sister and her seven year old daughter visited my mom. Coming back from Cary, I stopped by my mom's house and on the table I found a little surprise.

My mom's salt and pepper shakers complete with labels. My first assumption was that my niece made them to make up for our absence that weekend and played with them, but why salt and pepper shakers? I wondered if she believed Ike and I resembled these shapes or if she didn't have enough materials to represent us in a more authentic way. Where were her dolls? Why not draw a picture? What's most entertaining is that I am over the pepper shaker and Ike is over the salt shaker. I called my sister, but no luck in figuring this out because my niece was not available to talk. Even so, it did make me chuckle.
